Video: Meet Furniture Maker John Lundrigan
We profiled St. John’s based furniture maker and woodworker John Lundrigan for the summer, 2018 print issue of Home & Cabin. In this short video, John introduces himself and explains the sort of work he enjoys doing. As a furniture maker, John’s main interest is in making custom, live edge furniture from locally sourced woods like, say, the tree in your front yard that was recently cut down. He will mill the logs into slabs, dry it, and transform that old tree from your yard into a functional and beautiful piece of furniture for your home.
John is also interested in woodturning. Using his lathe, John makes bowls, mirrors and other items. He humbly calls himself a novice woodturner but his finished pieces look like the work of an experienced hand.

A true Newfoundlander John can make something of beauty and value out of seemingly nothing! It’s a skill he has acquired and honed over the years and thru a unique artistic application he demonstrates what every Newfoundlander knows, everything has a purpose and value. This is honest work that recycles and reduces waste and produces not just furniture but genuine pieces of art for families or individuals seeking something of purpose with a history to tell. Great work John.
